What Guildry is
Guildry is a Phoenix, Arizona company you hire for work around your home: vetted providers do the work, you pay when it is done, and Guildry is the party accountable for the result.
That last clause is the whole business. Everything below is what it means in practice.
Who you are actually hiring
Most ways of hiring put the contract between you and whoever shows up. The company that introduced you takes its cut and steps back, and when the work is wrong, the phone calls are yours to make. Guildry is built the other way round. The agreement is with Guildry, you pay Guildry, and if something goes wrong you come to Guildry — whose job is to sort it out, not to forward your complaint, through the outcome guarantee below. The provider is an independent business, and Guildry is the party you have the agreement with.
Vetted means identity verification through Stripe, and a review of the licences and insurance a provider holds, before they take work.
Where the name comes from
Guildry is a real word. In Scots it means a merchant guild, and it has been written down since at least 1583; Perth and Dundee both have Guildry Incorporations that bear it still. We have no connection to any of them, and we claim none. We took the word because a guildry already did the two things we were trying to build: it set a standard for membership, and it answered for the work done under its name. The word was chosen, not inherited.
How a job actually goes
You tell us what you need and a real person reads it and replies within one business day. Any work starts with a written quote, and nothing begins until you approve it. You pay when the work is done; the payment is held for two days after you pay, which is usually when the provider is paid. If the finished work does not match the quote you approved, you can ask for rework or a refund for thirty days, and Guildry’s outcome guarantee covers that up to $1,000 per job. The same thirty days and the same cap cover damage the work caused to your property beyond what is reasonable for the service. It is a guarantee, not an insurance policy — the full terms are in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
How Guildry gets paid
No provider ever pays us for a lead, because we do not sell leads, and providers pay us nothing on customers they add to Guildry themselves. When Guildry brings a provider a customer, Guildry keeps a share of what it pays that provider for the work, and none of anything it refunds. This is less a pricing policy than the reason the rest of the page works: a company paid for the introduction gets paid whether or not the job goes well, and we don’t. Any refund owed to you is issued by Guildry, which is why Guildry is the one deciding whose work it stands behind.
Where we work
Guildry serves the Phoenix metro and nowhere else. If you are outside it we will say so straight away rather than take your request and sit on it. Providers join Guildry by invitation — that invitation is about businesses joining Guildry; hiring Guildry is open to anyone in the metro today, with no account needed.
